Alright, so let me just ramble a bit about this new thing that’s kinda dropped on the gaming scene: BuildPort Xumia. It’s from this indie studio—Yumebau? I mean, that’s a name. Anyway, it’s all about this fast, physics-crazy space fighting stuff—and you get to make your own spaceships from scratch. Yeah, seriously, from scratch!
So, it’s out on the Quest 3 and 3S, and I’ve got to say, it’s like if Kerbal Space Program and some wild arena shooter had a baby. You build your ship, wire all the bits together, and then boom, off you go blasting space baddies. (Reminds me of that time I tried to play Kerbal and ended up orbiting… nothing.)
What’s cool is you can go all creative and build basically anything—drones, mechs, even your own Star Wars-style X-Wing if you’re feeling like a Jedi. But there’s a catch, of course. You gotta manage the ship’s energy, like making sure it keeps moving and shooting without exploding. And it’s all in VR or mixed reality, which is kinda nuts, right?
So, picture this: a bunch of modular blocks and pieces—like weapons and thrusters. You hook up sensors and stuff, and suddenly your creation’s got a mind of its own. But really, who are we kidding? The real deal is piloting your wild invention yourself. Nothing like crashing something you built with your own hands.
Oh, they’ve also got this early access 1v1 duel setup. You can challenge your buddies, or if you’re a lone wolf, you can practice against AI. Inviting friends to help build ships together is a thing, too. I guess it’s for those who play well with others (a concept I struggle with).
Anyway—yeah, right, almost forgot—they’ve got this ‘Xumi Trials’ bit for testing your designs in a sort of skill-based challenge. They’re promising more stuff later, like new game modes, avatars, and different ship parts.
It’s on the Horizon Store right now, and there’s a discount—$6 instead of $10. Not bad if you’ve got some change to spare. Probably worth checking out if you’re into building, destroying, and repeating the cycle. Cheers to that.
