Man, you know how sometimes you just wake up and you’re like, “Yep, today’s gonna be wild”? That’s how I felt diving into Honkai: Star Rail’s latest madness. So, there’s this massive mashup with Fate/stay night — if you’re into RPG games and crossovers, you’re probably buzzing right now. I mean, who wouldn’t be? We’ve been teased about this forever, and it’s finally here.
So, the Fate crossover shows up just a bit after patch 3.4. A week, I think? Or was it two days? Anyway, they dropped some stuff pulled straight from the visual novel scene. A total geek-out moment for many, I’m sure.
Here’s the thing though — they pretty much laid it all out back in June, during one of those livestream things. Long story short, the biggest buzz is about two new characters. You know how fans get.
And there’s good news if you hate things disappearing overnight. This collab isn’t going anywhere soon. November’s the latest whisper, but who’s counting? Saber’s here, acting all 5-Star Wind/Destruction hero. And Archer? Quantum/Hunt dude, also a 5-Star. Oh, and here’s the kicker: Archer’s basically free if you just log in. Saber’s a whole different story, though. Good luck with the pulls!
The banners. Let’s talk about them. Four of them, special and shiny, all for Saber and Archer. Oddly, no boosted rates for the 4-star gang or weapons. I mean, who does that? But hold your breath — guaranteed Saber’s light cone after you throw in 200 warps. So, hey, there’s hope.
I heard that none of the Fate folks come with English voiceovers. It’s not that I mind subtitles, but it’s interesting, right? Especially since MiHoYo’s having this awkward moment with their US voice actors. Weird timing?
Oh, I should mention, there’s this Trailblaze Continuance thing called Sweet Dreams and the Holy Grail. Combat challenges everywhere, exclusive rewards but they vanish by August 11. If you miss it, some stuff will pop up later in the game, but not all the cool rewards. Typical, isn’t it?
And just when you think it couldn’t get crazier, Phainon jumps into the fray. Been hanging around as an NPC and now bam! A playable 5-Star hero, all about that Physical/Destruction life.
Reruns? Oh, they’re here too. The first wave brought back Tribbie, Sunday, and Sparkle. July 23 hits and it’s Firefly, with a new outfit no less, and also Jingliu and Blade returning.
Speaking of upgrades, patch 3.4 did wonders for Kafka, Silver Wolf, and Blade. Jingliu’s rerun just lines up with those sweet upgrades. Perfect timing, wouldn’t you say?
So, yeah, Honkai’s bringing the noise, and it’s tempting to sit back and just watch it all unfold. Or play. Probably both.
