Sure thing, here it goes:
Okay, so here’s the deal with the whole Pokemon TCG Pocket and its Eevee Grove set. It’s been out for, what, just over two weeks? Feels like longer, honestly. If you’re like me and still missing those elusive cards for your deck, maybe consider hoarding your Hourglasses for that next expansion drop in late July. We don’t really know what theme it’s gonna roll with yet, maybe Pokémon from Gen 2 or Gen 3 will pop up, which feels kinda overdue. Anyway, fingers crossed for some solid Fighting cards—they’ve been, like, painfully scarce since… Triumphant Light? Ugh.
Admittedly, there are some Fighting decks in the game—but seriously, they’ve hit a bit of a creativity roadblock. You know how it goes. Only two notable ones are making the rounds these days: the Space-Time Smackdown and Triumphant Light-centric builds. And yeah, sure, Lucario Ex from Shining Revelry sees some action, though not enough to write home about. Besides that, it’s really just the sporadic Passimian Ex and Lycanroc Ex making cameo appearances. Honestly, right now? It feels like it’s all about Rampardos or Garchomp Ex decks. Go figure.
Oh, and did you know Rampardos is seen as possibly the top Fighting card? No kidding. It launched with Space-Time Smackdown back in January 2025, and believe it or not, it’s still reigning supreme. The critter has 150 HP—like, as a non-Ex card!—and smacks 130 damage with just one Fighting Energy. Even its Head Smash penalty isn’t that bad, a mere 50 recoil if you KO an opponent. Fast and formidable, period.
The one hiccup? Well, it’s a Stage 2 card, so there’s the whole Skull Fossil evolution thing. Although, to be fair, Pokemon TCG Pocket’s Rare Candy (from Celestial Guardians) practically nullifies that issue. Get this: you could potentially have Rampardos ready to brawl on your second turn! Combine it with Silvally, and boom, you’ve got yourself an outstanding duo. Who’da thunk?
Oh! Before I forget—there’s talk of Rampardos being part of some "half-Fighting" deck, teaming up with Silvally which is actually Normal-type. Who knew, right?
Still, if you snag Rampardos, it’s worth cracking open those Space-Time Smackdown boosters to see what other heavy hitters they contain. But let’s be real—if the next set wants Fighting cards to be as revered as Rampardos, it better step up its game big time. No pressure.
Switching gears, the second most buzzworthy Fighting deck out there features Garchomp Ex. This oldie but goodie hails from Triumphant Light and boasts 170 HP for its Stage 2 Ex status. It’s got two attacks—Linear Attack (50 damage to any opposing Pokémon) and Dragon Claw (100 damage with 2 Fighting, 1 Colorless energy). Pair it with Rampardos, and you’ve got yourself a powerhouse.
These two being both Stage 2 cards benefit from the Lillie Supporter card—heal 60 damage for your troubles. Now sprinkle in the Cyrus Supporter—it lets you juggle and KO an opponent’s bench Pokémon, making this pair even more lethal. Sweet strategy, right?
So, there it is—Pokemon cards, strategy musings, and some hopes for what’s next. Who even knows what surprises are in store, but whatever it is, hoping it shakes things up. Fingers crossed!
