Oh man, so here’s this wild update I got wrapped up in, about Wander Stars — it’s this game they’re putting out on the Switch, you know? Fellow Traveller and Paper Castle are the brains behind it, and, I dunno why, but they’ve got this way of, like, making you care about release dates more than your mom’s birthday or something. Not that I’d ever forget her birthday.
So, they drop this note on us and, surprise, surprise, the game’s delayed. Again. Typical, right? They start by saying how grateful they are for the feedback from the open beta. Honestly, what do I know about betas and whatever, but I guess people noticed that the UI’s as wonky as a three-legged table. Combat bugs are apparently lurking too, ready to throw a wrench in your fun just when you’re getting the hang of it.
It’s kind of refreshing though, them taking their time. I mean, have you ever rushed a project and ended up with something that even you wouldn’t wanna look at again? Been there, done that. Anyway, there’s also this whole “let’s not burn ourselves out” vibe from them. Necessary, huh? I get it. Sanity over deadlines.
Oh, and get this — they’re dropping it on September 19, which just so happens to be exactly seven years after Underhero came out. Coincidence or cosmic event? Who knows. Seven years feels monumental, like, whoa, where were you in 2016, y’know?
Anyway — focus. Wander Stars is set to be a big deal. We’re talking galaxy-trekking martial artists, Ringo and Wolfe, in a hunt for this mysterious map. Sounds like a mix of Cowboy Bebop and Dragon Ball Z, with a bit of One Piece for good measure. If that doesn’t scream “watch me,” I don’t know what does.
And there’s this whole thing where they fight. Not just with punches and kicks, but words. Yeah, you read that right. Kiai, that’s what they call it. Over 200 words at your disposal to smack down enemies and, I dunno, reveal their inner fears or whatever poetic nonsense. It’s like a martial arts TED talk.
Mark your calendars for August 1, 2025, when you can snag it on the Nintendo eShop. Just be ready for a ride that’s as messy as my thought process.
Oh, wait, there’s some trailer thing too — but who even watches those anymore?
