Okay, so, Rebel Wolves – you know, those folks who apparently did things with CD Projekt Red – just dropped a massive sneak peek for The Blood of Dawnwalker. This game, it’s like an open-world RPG and all about vampires. Over 20 minutes of gameplay, and it’s the most we’ve seen since they teased it last year. Or was it the year before? Time’s a blur, right?
Anyway, what’s wild is people are already saying it’s like The Witcher. And who can blame them? Witchers, vampires, morally awkward choices – same vibe, different fangs. They’re eyeing a 2026 release on everything you’d expect: PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, you name it.
So, picture this: they had this big reveal event on June 21. I wasn’t there, but hey, they showed more than 21 minutes of gameplay. Most of it was this quest with Coen, our main dude, hunting rumors in an old cathedral. Why cathedral? Vampires and spooky churches go together like peanut butter and jelly, I guess.
Right, so the combat – they’re showcasing swordplay like you’re some kind of sword whisperer. Think precision over flailing, which is how I tend to handle things (not the best approach, I know). You got special moves, using health, no less. Burning Blood burns the bandits, while Artery Attack—who named these, really?—is just decapitation central. If you’ve played Dragon Age, you get the combat pause thing. If not, well, here’s your chance.
Here’s a twist – and it’s kinda cool: time’s your buddy, not your boss. In The Blood of Dawnwalker, you have “narrative sandbox” vibes. I don’t really know what that means, but what I do know is quests and extras are all mixed up, and you get to save your family. Or try to. And time doesn’t tick away while you’re daydreaming (which, let’s be honest, is very useful for some of us).
Oh, and Coen’s a vampire. Shocker? Probably not, huh? At night, it’s all whoosh and prowl with new abilities. His health? More like a snack meter, and not feeding leads to less control. Feed on humans or bunnies, but hey, choices have consequences. Coen’s quests change depending on if he’s in full vampire mode or just humaning around. So, yeah, lots of replay potential there.
I dunno. There’s angst, action, nighttime shenanigans. Maybe it’ll bite hard, or…twist—you know what I mean. Yeah, I’m keeping an eye on this one.
