Oh man, so I woke up this morning, right? And the first thing I see is this wild claim from the BBC about playing NES games on a Super Nintendo. I mean, really? Did they even ask Greg Leahy about this? You’d think they might double-check that stuff. Anyway, moving on—wait, or was I supposed to start with Donkey Kong?
So, yeah, apparently everyone in the Nintendo universe is buzzing about Donkey Kong Bananza. Should I care more about that? Maybe I’ll write a review about it next week. But let’s not get stuck there. What else is bubbling up in our pixelated playground?
If you’re into stuff that makes you scratch your head, there’s this Pac-Man exploration platformer. Now, the news folks seem to think it’s a masterpiece, like… more impressive than Montreal in Shadow Labyrinth. Crazy, right? Oh, and if you’re on the Switch, there’s a free upgrade pack. Not sure why I remember that bit. Meanwhile, for those who like to keep things sane yet interesting, there’s The Wandering Village. It’s a city builder on a giant creature’s back. Yes, seriously.
Stuff I might have missed? Oh, trust me, there’s plenty. Like a new HunterxHunter fighter from the team behind Dragon Ball FighterZ. Could be amazing, or just, you know… okay? And a bunch of ports, like Neverwinter Nights 2 and some Golden Tee classics. The latter, unfortunately, lacks trackball support. Boo. Oh, and God Wars found itself a new publisher. Who’d have thought?
Now, last week was a blur, but the RFN chat caught a couple of things—like Super Dimension Fortress Macross II sneaking in. And weirdly, there’s an Australian Rules football game out there somewhere, sans licenses. Can’t have that Grand Final showdown between St. Kilda and the Gold Coast though, which is kind of a letdown. Or maybe it’s better this way. Who knows.
Hold up—there’s this game, Pineapple: A Bittersweet Revenge. Willem had a look, and it’s priced all over the place. Eight bucks in the US, yet eighty in Canada? Did I read that right? Seems like a typo, but no one’s fixing it.
Right, so what’s new where? Let’s see if I got this straight.
North America
- Switch 2: Donkey Kong Bananza. Feels pricey at $69.99, doesn’t it? C$99.99 in Canada. Yikes.
- Pac-Man: Shadow Labyrinth drops Friday for $29.99.
- The original Switch gets HunterxHunter Nen Impact for $59.99. Tuesday, I think.
- And there’s tons more. Neverwinter Nights 2, some Golden Tee classics… both dropping Tuesday.
- Oh, and Neon Noodles hits the kitchen Wednesday.
- Wild pricing again with Pineapple at $7.99 US but C$79.99 in Canada.
Europe
- Pay €69.99 for Donkey Kong, or £58.99 if you’re across the channel.
- Shadow Labyrinth goes live Friday for €29.99.
- Loads of other games drop in, some deals here and there—notably Neural Noodles Wednesday.
- Pineapple is cheaper here: €7.99, if I remember.
Japan
- Guess what? They’re getting Donkey Kong Bananza at ¥7980.
- Same deal, Shadow Labyrinth for ¥3960. Maybe the enthusiasm varies?
- Collectible Cars—someone’s idea of simulation fun, I hope—goes for ¥1949.
Phew, that’s a lot, right? I didn’t even cover everything. Anyway, it might be lunchtime, or maybe I should’ve written this like an hour ago. I swear, these gaming lists are endless but fascinating. Off to find some coffee, or maybe not. Decisions, decisions.
