Let’s talk about Arken Age, right? Originally dropped on PSVR 2 and PC VR, and now it’s jumping over to Quest 3 and Quest 3S. Yeah, November’s the month. Can’t say I’m not looking forward to it. This game—wow—is just, like, super immersive. Like you’re really there, you know? I’ve played a bunch of games this year, but this one sticks out. Surprising how good it looks on Quest, honestly.
The folks who made Arken Age? You can tell they’ve been around the VR block. Feels like they played a ton of other VR stuff and thought, “Hey, let’s pull the best parts from those.” Definitely gives off Stormland and Lone Echo vibes, if you remember those gems. Super hands-on and just suck you in.
Oh, the climbing mechanics. I mean, it’s got this whole range of combat, melee and ranged, plus some serious exploration. You find yourself just hanging off ledges, thinking, “How did I end up here?” That kinda vertigo but in a good way. It’s all about embodiment and that diegetic design stuff—or so I’ve heard.
And the graphics? Way better than your run-of-the-mill VR game. Not pixelated messes, thank goodness. The Quest port holds its own, at least from what the preview teaser shows. It’s not exactly like what you’d get on a fancy tethered system, but hey, it’s pretty impressive for a standalone.
Here’s the deal, though: they’re aiming high. The game’s skipping Quest 2 and going full-on for Quest 3 and 3S. Makes sense—need that extra juice to keep it looking sharp.
By the time November hits, this one’s supposed to be ready. Not sure about the price yet, but if you’re the type who loves a good wishlist, it’s right there on the Horizon store waiting to be ticked. You’ll get the heads up when it’s finally out.
