Man, okay, where do I start? So, SEGA just dropped this bit of news, and it’s wild—like, they’ve got this free demo out for their new thing: 2D action platformer called Shinobi: Art of Vengeance. And yeah, it’s sitting there on the Nintendo eShop for Switch. So if you’re into that sort of thing, hop on it.
Now, picture this: you get to roam around Oboro Village—just the first stage, though, so don’t get too cozy. You’re out here dodging enemies and trying your best not to fall into the abyss, which has these weirdly entertaining platform challenges. And there’s score-chasing? I bet that’s going to crank up the pressure. See, there’s a hint (or maybe it’s a tease, who knows) that you’ll get some nifty abilities here in the demo that you wouldn’t usually stumble upon until later in the full game. Nice, right?
I got to talking about this with a buddy who’s a fan of Lizardcube—yup, they teamed up for this one. The art is something else. Imagine stepping into a living painting that’s a bit dark and sinister because our dude, Joe Musashi, comes home and, bam, his village is torched and everyone’s stone. Crazy vengeance plot? Check.
So, off Joe goes, probably with steam coming out of his ears, cutting down baddies and these absolutely massive bosses. The worlds you go through? Hand-drawn masterpieces with secret paths hiding who-knows-what. More than a dozen stages, from places that look like military forts to deserts that’ll make you feel thirsty just watching. And the platform puzzles? Yep, they’re designed to make you sweat a little.
Now, Joe’s arsenal—think big ol’ Katana (it has a snazzy name: Oborozuki), Kunai, the works! Plus, he’s all about those Ninja Arts, which I can’t even begin to name, but apparently they’re epic. Unleashing combos like there’s no tomorrow, picking up Amulets, and using Ningi tools which are…oh boy, those are probably shiny, helpful gadgets for sure.
Oh, and if you’re marking calendars—29 August 2025 is the date. The game goes live across the globe on the Nintendo eShop. Excited? Confused? I’m a bit of both. But hey, if ninjas and epic vengeance quests are your thing, this might be a ride worth taking.
