Marvel Rivals players, oh boy, they’ve got feelings — and a lot of ’em — about these new matchmaking limits. NetEase, you know, the folks behind the game, they’re rolling this out with Season 3.5. Just when you thought things were calming down, they throw this into the mix to keep the shooter lively.
So, picture this: July 11 rolls around, and bam, Marvel Rivals Season 3 lands, featuring Knull. Ever heard of him? The god of symbiotes — yeah, that guy. Jean Grey, or Phoenix if you wanna get all fiery about it, swoops in to help deal with the mess. And of course, new map alert! We’ve got Klyntar: Celestial Husk strutting its stuff in Domination mode, which sounds way fancier than it is.
But, here’s the kicker. The devs tweaked Team-Ups again — yeah, AGAIN. Now Phoenix pairs with Wolverine, and the Human Torch gets to buddy up with both Spider-Man and The Thing. There’s always that one update everyone grumbles about, and this time? It’s the matchmaking changes. Surprise.
Reddit, the land of endless opinions, lit up with players, like user smaughh, who’s all “this is odd,” and “what kind of thinking is this to stop those ‘massive stacks’?” More than 900 comments — can you believe? — chimed in, mostly bummed out. Why? Because they’re squad players through and through. Now it seems like the devs are pushing them towards solo play or smaller teams. Some folks reckon this might make smurf accounts more of a thing for those wanting full stacks in ranked.
Jumping over to ranked, and it gets even tighter. Bronze, Silver, Gold — you can still team up in fives. Hit Platinum or beyond, and it’s only three people max. And for the top dogs, like the Celestial rank? Only two per team!
And, whoops, nearly forgot — Blade’s finally joining the roster in Season 3.5, dropping on August 8th. More Team-Up shenanigans too, with Moon Knight and Cloak and Dagger tagging along Blade, and a fresh ability for Adam Warlock and Luna Snow. Oh, and there’s a snazzy new skin for The Thing. Something about a symbiote makeover? These updates always squeeze in something for everyone, I guess.
Anyway, where was I? Oh, right — 9/10 rating from Game Rant. Seems they love it, but let’s see how the community feels after all this. Layers, right? Unpeeling gaming onions.
