Acer has just introduced a fresh batch of graphics cards in the Radeon RX 9070 series, rolling out six distinct models that bring both base and overclocked (OC) variations to enthusiasts, with boost clocks reaching an impressive 3.1 GHz.
Acer, known for its role as a board partner with AMD, recently revealed an exciting lineup of RDNA 4 GPUs, including the latest BiFrost and Nitro variants. While Acer might not have the same history of activity as some of AMD’s major partners, this announcement marks a significant step with the launch of six different GPU models.
In this lineup, you’ll find two Nitro editions for the Radeon RX 9070 XT and Radeon RX 9070, plus a BiFrost model for each. BiFrost is designed to showcase Acer’s top-tier looks and advanced cooling systems, whereas Nitro caters to mainstream users but doesn’t skimp on powerful specs.
Let’s delve into the BiFrost editions first. The Acer BiFrost Radeon RX 9070 XT OC 16 GB is equipped with a sleek triple-fan cooling system, sporting elegant shroud designs with eye-catching silver accents around the central fan. Utilizing FrostBlade 4.0 ringed fans and a counter-spin technology, this card excels at dissipating heat efficiently. The card is about 295 mm long, has a 2.5-slot thickness, and it’s factory-overclocked to a swift 3.1 GHz, setting the stage for an outstanding gaming performance.
Moving on to the Acer BiFrost Radeon RX 9070 OC 16 GB, it mirrors its XT sibling in design but opts for two 8-pin power connectors instead of three. Surprisingly, both cards share a 340W power rating, even though the non-XT version naturally consumes less power. It’s technically capable of handling the 340W with the existing connectors and the PCI-E x16 slot, though it doesn’t leave much headroom for overclocking as seen in the BiFrost RX 9070 XT OC.
Now, let’s talk about the Nitro series, which introduces both OC and non-OC models for the RX 9070 series. The Acer Nitro Radeon RX 9070 XT OC also features a triple-fan setup with boost clock speeds reaching up to 3.1 GHz, a 2.5-slot design, and similar length to the BiFrost variant. This model uses three 8-pin connectors, maintaining a 340W TDP. Meanwhile, the non-OC Nitro RX 9070 XT, rated at 304W, retains all three connectors but caps its boost at 2970 MHz and hits up to 2.4 GHz during gaming sessions.
Looking at the last two, the Acer Nitro Radeon RX 9070 OC and RX 9070 16 GB editions, we see boost clocks reaching 2.7 GHz and 2.52 GHz, respectively. The OC model has a 245W rating, while the non-OC version stands at 220W, with both models sharing a similar look.
While Acer has kept the pricing under wraps for most cards, it’s worth noting that the Acer Nitro Radeon RX 9070 XT OC 16 GB carries a hefty price tag of $829.99. The BiFrost edition, expected to be even pricier, still awaits its price reveal. Although specific release dates are still pending, the Nitro RX 9070 XT OC is slated to hit the US market in April.
