Oh boy, so apparently Samsung might be the latest bigwig to toss a chunk of cash into the U.S. economy — or something like that. Heard this during one of those slightly rambly talks President Trump had about trade deals (seriously, these things get all tangly).
**Samsung Set to Make Waves with a Big US Investment? Maybe Making Gadgets Here… Who Knows?**
So, here’s the scoop. The Trump folks are deep in talks with countries like India, Japan, South Korea — trying to nail down trade deals. And get this: part of the big plan seems to be getting these other countries to throw some money around in the U.S. Once Trump settled into the big chair, a bunch of companies — Apple, TSMC, SoftBank, just to name a few — announced these mega-expensive plans to lay down roots stateside. And now, Samsung’s name is in the rumor mill. Some newspaper, The Korea Herald, mentioned Trump might sign off on something with Samsung soon.
> So, Trump’s chatting away: “I heard Samsung’s doing this massive building thing in the U.S. because of tariffs. If it wasn’t for the tariffs, no way they’d be doing this.”
> He goes on, “Even Samsung — like, they didn’t directly mention it — but turns out they spilled the beans this morning about building this ginormous plant. Guess they’re trying to sidestep those tariffs.”
Alright, so the Trump gang seems to be flexing their muscles, nudging companies to announce hefty investment plans in the good ol’ U.S. of A. And with Samsung getting in line, here’s the lowdown: They seem to have expansion plans in the works for Austin and some other Texan spot. It’s supposed to churn out about 10,000 jobs. And there’s already some project rumbling along in Taylor, Texas. Word on the street is it’ll kick into gear by the end of 2027, pumping out advanced tech stuff like the 2nm nodes. Apparently, NVIDIA and others can’t wait.
Samsung, on the flip side, is thinking about shifting where it churns out home appliances and TVs, according to their latest earnings report. So, if a tariff deal rolls out, it might just cover this too. What we’re all waiting on, though, is some official word. Might hear something once Trump and South Korea shake hands on their trade plan — could be any day now.
