Nintendo’s up to something again, and, well, who knows where it’s going? So they just opened pre-orders for the Switch 2. Naturally, I got sucked into scrolling, hunting down those tiny details—specifically, file sizes of the games. And, honestly, a couple of them are huge. Like, unexpectedly beefy, more like some PC game that hogs space like it’s no big deal. Weird, right?
Yeah, but hey, it makes sense, sorta. I guess? The new console can push 1080p, even higher maybe, at speeds that’ll make your head spin. Still, those game file sizes are gonna chew through that 256 GB storage quicker than you can say "too late." Looked at some of the upcoming games and, bam, you’re already staring at over 300 GB altogether. Great, just great—now I gotta get a microSD Express card. Sigh.
And sure, it sounds kinda crazy to be buying storage for a console I don’t even own yet. But here we are. I mean, seriously, those bigger cards are blazing fast, even if they cost an arm and a leg. But, oh yeah, your old microSD cards? Forget it. They won’t work with the Switch 2, except for, what, looking at some screenshots? Sure, why not?
I don’t know why I even find this stuff interesting. Nintendo’s always got a way of keeping us on our toes, I guess. Anyway, that’s my rant.
