So, here’s the thing with EA and Anthem. They’re pulling it down next year, which, I gotta say, feels both expected and kinda sad. I mean, I remember when Anthem was about to launch—it was this huge, shiny promise from BioWare and EA, and now it’s just… well, you know.
Anyway, they posted something about this on their site. Said January 12th, 2026, is the last curtain call for Anthem. But don’t panic—if you’ve got some of that fancy in-game currency tucked away, you can still use it. They’re just not selling any more of it. Probably smart, in a funny sort of way. I mean, why buy more for a game that’s packing its bags?
Oh, and EA threw in a thank-you note. Classic move, really. “We deeply appreciate your dedication,” yada yada. They say they’re grateful, but I’d be lying if I said this didn’t feel like a breakup text. Not sure why, but I immediately thought of an ex saying, “It’s not you, it’s me.”
On the flip side, they swear nobody’s losing jobs over this, at least not yet. Which is a relief, sorta? Hard to tell these days. Might be some nervous folks over there, who knows. Maybe it’s fine. Or maybe that’s just cynical ol’ me.
Thinking back to 2019, when Anthem first hit the ground… It was supposed to be this blockbuster, live-service whirlwind. But between you and me, it stumbled out of the gate. Later that year, BioWare promised they had a plan—a fix, a reboot—or whatever they called Anthem Next. Spoiler alert: didn’t happen. I guess not every reboot gets its grand finale.
So, there you have it. Anthem’s final days are marked, and here I am, slightly bewildered and oddly sentimental. And now I kind of want a sandwich.
