Sure, I get it—you’re itching for the new Jackbox Party Pack 11, right? Me too! It’s coming to Xbox this fall, and there’s a bunch of new stuff. Five games, to be exact. There’s one where you write jokes, another where you draw cozy things, a game with sound effects, some sort of social deduction thing, and then there’s this trivia RPG game called Legends of Trivia. Kinda sounds like someone mashed up a quiz night with a D&D session, don’t you think?
So, Legends of Trivia! Imagine this: you’re with your team battling monsters, but instead of swords or magic, you’re armed with your trivia knowledge. Answer questions right, and you clobber the bad guys. Mess up, and—well, let’s just say the monsters aren’t known for their mercy. It’s like school quizzes but with way higher stakes.
I had a chat with a few devs behind this madness. Warren Arnold, the dude directing this whole trivia escapade, says it’s packed with action and flashy animation. Makes sense—trivia’s gotta be way more than just a whiteboard and smelly markers these days.
Then there’s Hector Padilla, the lead artist, who—get this—came up with the idea ages ago, like five or six years back. He almost shelved it because, apparently, there were too many question marks floating around the design. Now, I occasionally find forgotten snacks in my couch, but a forgotten game idea? That’s next level. Had to chuckle when Nate Sandberg, the audio guy, just swooped in and got the show on the road. Made a pitch team and everything. Imagine that.
And the music, oh man. Nate was all hyped about that 8-bit Final Fantasy vibe. If you’re hearing arpeggiated synths and trombones and thinking “Hmm, that’s a curious mix,” well, same! Then add a dash of humor with jaw harps and cartoon-y sounds. Monsters have never sounded so… quirky?
Then Hector throws in his two cents, and turns out, he’s a Pokémon art fanatic. No wonder the design’s vivid and charming. Though, sounds like the UI part gives him gray hairs. Happens to the best of us, right?
And characters! Hector’s got a soft spot for Azura, the Princess Mage. He animated her a lot, and apparently, she stirred that magical girl spark inside him. And there’s Bingo, the Rogue Jester, because—why not? Clowns need representation too.
Sound-wise, Nate talks about this ogre boss. Picture this: a giant ogre on a tiny donkey. Had a ball with the xylophones and squeaky toys for that one. Makes me wish I could hear it now.
Anyway, they’re hoping players dive into this immersive world, make choices they care about, and groove to tunes that just might get stuck in their heads. Maybe it’ll bring you back to the RPGs of yore. Can’t wait to see all this in action when The Jackbox Party Pack 11 hits. Keep an eye on their socials for the latest, if that’s your thing.
