Man, so there’s this new game coming out for Nintendo’s Switch 2 that’s got everyone talking — Drag x Drive. Or, uh, Drag “and” Drive? Yeah, the trailer kind of said it like that. Anyway, it’s got this whole wheelchair-basketball-with-a-twist vibe. Weird, right? But also kind of cool. I’m not totally sure why it stuck with me, but there’s just something about basketball with mouse controls that makes you go, “Wait, what?”
So, Nintendo dropped this pretty epic 7-minute trailer that spills the beans on the whole deal. We’re talking controls, tricks, and even the off-court shenanigans. But what really had us scratching our heads was the game modes — like, is it just 3-on-3 matches or what? Turns out, there’s more. Minigames are thrown in between matches. A little extra spice, y’know? Plus, there’s also online stuff, a training mode, and you can even throw down against bots. Neat.
Nintendo’s throwing out a list of features, and let me tell you, they’re not messing around:
Jump into online lobbies and play with folks from who-knows-where. Once 6 people join, boom, game time! Even 12 can chill in this thing called a Public Park.
Got some buddies? Make your own Friend Park, slap on or skip GameChat. Two courts in play, max 6 players per court. Wanna compete? Try to climb to the top of your park’s leaderboard!
Offline, just go solo against the computer. Practice makes perfect, right?
Pick from three drivers to suit your groove: Guard, Center, Forward. Each one’s got its own vibe. Find your perfect match, seriously.
Need a break? Jump off the court for a Circuit Sprint or funky minigames like Rebound Scramble. Shooting contests, bunny hop jump rope — why not?
Crush challenges for trophies and unlock some wild helmets. Mix and match with your armor or whatever you dig. Get your colors just right and pin on your favorite number. It’s a whole look!
Honestly, this game’s got some jazzy features. Could be a sleeper hit — who knows? What do you think? Oh, and before the official drop, there’s this Global Jam. That’s right, August 9-10, grab the demo and just shoot some hoops early:
August 9: 3 am – 7 am PT
August 9: 5 pm – 9 pm PT
August 10: 9 am – 1 pm PT
So, okay, let’s cross our fingers that Drag x Drive brings the slam dunk vibes when it finally lands on August 14.
