Wow, okay, so — where do I even start? Summer Game Fest, right? It’s happening right now on the PS Store, and there’s this bunch of Capcom games getting some sweet discounts. Now, I’m talking PS4 and PS5 here, in case that slipped my mind.
So, here’s the thing: Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection — all those arcade classics for just $29.99 now. I mean, normally it’s 50 bucks. Do the math — that’s like, what, 40% off? But, uh, don’t dawdle. This deal’s vanishing faster than ice cream in July, wrapping up on June 19 at 2:59 a.m. Eastern Time. Why such a specific time, you ask? Beats me.
Anyway, the game’s blurb — oh man, it’s all like, “Legendary crossover hits are back!” Sounds epic, right? It’s this wild mash-up of Marvel and Capcom characters — like your arcade dreams doing a little victory lap. If you can put that visual together.
So, what’s in the mix? Seven games, and honestly, some are all-time greats. You’ve got your X-Men: Children of the Atom, some Marvel Super Heroes action, and of course, X-Men vs. Street Fighter. Oh, and don’t forget Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter, and the biggie — Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes and its sequel, New Age of Heroes. The Punisher’s in there too, which, let’s face it, is just a nice little treat.
When this collection dropped last year, critics basically gave it a standing ovation. Metacritic shows an average score of 87 out of 100 from 37 reviews. Over at ComingSoon, they threw a 9 out of 10 at it. Not too shabby.
I’ve gotta say, the review was buzzing — called it “a stellar collection” with one of the greatest fighting games ever, which I think means they were pretty hyped about it. Even just releasing Marvel vs. Capcom 2 would’ve been a win, but Capcom went all out with this bundle.
Heads up though, keep an eye peeled for more deals popping up. Who knows what’s gonna show up next? Like, seriously, stay tuned or whatever.
