No way to explain how I ended up here, but there it was – Xbox Games Showcase with “The Outer Worlds 2” under the spotlight. I mean, who even knew a sequel was coming? Maybe the folks at Obsidian just forgot to tell us. Or maybe they didn’t care. Either way, what we’ve got is a game trying to one-up itself. Like when you’re on stage and suddenly realize you didn’t prepare. Awkward, right?
Anyway, so, this game… it’s all about more space escapades mixed with sarcastic banter. They showed some footage, but honest talk – I was too busy staring at the strange scoreboard thing they had on stage. Totally unrelated. But it got me thinking, are they trying too hard? Or maybe I just need glasses. Yeah, maybe that’s it.
Oh, and those sound effects. The ships swooshing by or whatever, sounded like those toy cars you’d launch with a pull-string. No lie. Felt comforting, though. Like a childhood flashback nobody asked for. Maybe it’s intentional? The nostalgia thing? Who knows.
And the visuals, man, were like… How do I say this? Like if you tossed a bunch of neon paint into the dark and said, “Go for it!” Some gameplay hint was there, I’m sure, if you squinted hard enough. Or maybe I blinked and missed it. Happens, right?
Halfway through, I wondered if this was some joke I was in on or just lost. Probably both, now that I think about it. But hey, “The Outer Worlds 2” is out there, doing its space thing, trying to be bigger or better. Only time will tell if it flies or flops.
Oh, and there were related stories. Can’t remember much, something about “High on Life 2” or “KreatureKind.” Must be interesting if they keep making sequels, I guess. But let’s get real – I was still stuck on that neon vibe.
Right, that’s the scoop. Or an attempt at one. Go figure.
