Well, here we go. Let’s talk about those Mortal Kombat games. You know, they’ve always had that fierce dragon logo front and center on the box art, with a splash of flames here and there. I’m pretty sure they just love showing off that dragon. Or maybe it’s just me. Anyway, 2011’s Mortal Kombat decided to shake things up a bit, throwing some fighters into the spotlight on the cover. A new trend, I guess?
Now, ever notice how Scorpion’s been hogging the cover since then? Like, come on, three out of four games! But then Liu Kang got his moment to shine on Mortal Kombat 1’s cover. Kinda makes sense, considering he’s basically the main god now. Wonder if they flipped a coin for that decision. When the next Mortal Kombat game decides to show up — who even knows when that’ll be — some other characters might make sense to throw on the front.
Oh, and speaking of surprises, let’s talk about Noob Saibot. Yeah, him. If you missed the whole Khaos Reigns expansion, long story short, Bi-Han becomes this dark dude thanks to some nasty magic. He’s all about revenge now. Sure, Liu Kang kinda got in his way, but who’s keeping score, right? There’s a chance Noob Saibot’s mug could end up on the next game’s cover if they keep pushing this storyline. Not a wild idea, really.
But here’s the kicker — good ol’ Scorpion or Liu Kang might just be the easy choices. They’re like the faces of Mortal Kombat, aren’t they? It’s almost like they have a contract for it. Scorpion’s kind of a given, and Liu Kang? Well, he’s already been there.
Now for the oddball choice, enter Orin. Yeah, she’s a dragon from Edenia, and she’s poked her head into the story a bit again. It’s probably a long shot, but picturing her on the cover, maybe somehow like the emblem, is kinda wild.
And why not throw everybody on there for good measure? A packed roster might do some damage control because, let’s face it, Mortal Kombat 1 wasn’t everyone’s cup of tea. Fans were grumbling about some missing characters — Kano, Sonya Blade, Jax and all. Slap a bunch of faces on the box, and maybe that’ll win some hearts back. Could be a smart move, or just a crowded cover. But who am I to say?
So, to sum it up: who knows what they’ll do next? There’s a mess of choices on the table. Let’s see what wild ride they take us on.
