Okay, so get this. It’s like, Carmageddon people decided to shake things up at Stainless Games. Some guy named Ben Gunstone — who I guess is kinda new-ish, been there since, what, 2022? — is now the big cheese, the CEO. If you’re like me, trying to remember if you’ve heard his name before, he came from Dovetail Games, did some director stuff, probably making cool things happen. Before you know it, he’s in charge of operations and, bam, now running the show.
Anyway, Ben’s all like, “Whoa, being the CEO is wild.” He’s taking over from Patrick Buckland, who like totally started the whole shebang in 1994. Patrick’s leaving the CEO gig, but in a fun twist, sticking around as Executive Chairman. Imagine trying to retire but not really. He mentioned something about turning 62 soon — I bet he gets carded at bars still, haha.
Patrick’s had his fingers in all the gaming pies for ages. His little comment about looking older than 70 made me chuckle. Have you ever just wanted to step back from all the craziness of your job? Sounds like that’s what he’s doing — but not completely! Just enough for some chill, you know? He also owns most of the company, so he’s like, “Yeah, Ben’s got it now, but I’m still kind of the boss.” It’s like handing the keys to someone but still being in the passenger seat.
Anyway, maybe they’ll keep making those games people like? Who knows. That’s the scoop from my corner of the universe.
