In the much-talked-about sequel to Team Cherry’s Hollow Knight, fans are buzzing to step into the shoes—or, uh, carapace—of Hornet. This time, she’s off exploring the eerie realm of Pharloom in Hollow Knight: Silksong. And while new faces will surely pop up, wouldn’t it be kind of cool to see some old Hallownest pals again? Like, bring back some NPCs to weave a thread between the tales. I mean, if they did that, it wouldn’t surprise me if it adds some nice layers to the story with Hornet.
Speaking of familiar faces, how about Quirrel? Remember him? That wandering dude with a head full of thoughts and a thirst for adventure, just like the Knight. Seems logical he’d pop up in Pharloom, right? Maybe shedding light on how all these mystical lands connect. And you know, maybe Quirrel and Hornet could kick off a sort of mentor-protégé thing. I bet his philosophical vibes would blend well with Hornet’s mission. Plus, what even happened to Quirrel at Blue Lake? Maybe he wasn’t done after all.
Oh, and how about Iselda and Cornifer, our favorite map-making couple? Imagine them tackling new territories. Cornifer with his nose in some convoluted map corner while Iselda finally gets to leave the shop back in Dirtmouth. They’d bring some useful mapping skills to Silksong. Plus, they actually have a backstory with Hornet, so they’d fit right in without having to twist the narrative.
And then there’s the enigmatic Grimm Troupe. Honestly, with their penchant for kingdom-hopping, it’s a no-brainer for them to show up in Pharloom. They’re like a traveling circus with spooky vibes, answering to some ancient call or something. Hornet could definitely have a fascinating tête-à-tête with Grimm about old traditions they both cling to. Now, that I’d love to see.
Let’s not forget The Hunter. The guy’s all about chronicling creatures, so Pharloom’s unique ecosystem could be his next playground. Picture a Hunter’s Journal 2.0, nudging Hornet to scribble down notes on bizarre creatures. And given Hornet’s knack for taking foes down, The Hunter would probably see her as a fellow predator or maybe a rival? Hard to say, but kind of exciting to think about.
Which of these characters will actually make it to Pharloom? Dunno, but I’ll be on tenterhooks to find out. Whatever Team Cherry decides, Silksong is shaping up to be a wild expansion of the universe, both in terms of lore and the intriguing connections it might weave. Can’t wait to dive into that beautifully grim world once again.
