Hey, so guess what? Xbox Game Pass Ultimate just snagged another day-one game. It’s called Wuchang: Fallen Feathers. Now, if you’re keeping track (which I kinda doubt), that makes it the 16th game for July 2025, and yeah, number 94 of the year. Not that anyone’s counting, right?
This juicy little title’s from Lenzee Games, a crew from China, and it’s one of those soulslike RPGs. Imagine 17th-century China, right when those Ming dynasty days were numbered. Wuchang, the character, not the place — she’s an amnesiac pirate (yep, seriously) who’s also getting bullied by the Feathering Disease. Ah, the drama! They first yapped about it in 2021, and then boom, Xbox Game Pass day-one mention at the showcase in June 2024. Fast forward, it’s landing in April 2025.
Honestly, I got caught messing up my timeline after that — anyway, what was I saying? Oh yeah, it hit Xbox Game Pass on July 24, but folks on the U.S. East Coast got early dibs on the 23rd at 10pm. How cool is that? It’s like, “Here, have a gift, before everyone else!” But sadly, if you’re clinging to an Xbox One, it’s a no-go. Although, hey, if you’re into cloud gaming, you might still swing it by streaming.
Oh man, where did my notes go? Okay, moving on to what people are saying. The reviews are decent, not mind-blowing though. Wuchang sits at a solid “Strong” on OpenCritic, with an average score hovering around 75. Critics liked the fast action and the switcheroo you can do with weapons. This Madness system is cool too — it’s like, you don’t lose all your progress when you die, just as much as your Madness level decides. Get this, max out the Madness and fall: an evil twin comes after your stuff. Wild, right?
Some critics, though, think it’s a bit of a copycat meal, like, “Haven’t I tasted this before?” Also, the difficulty’s all over the place — one minute you’re bossing, next you’re the noob. But hey, difficulty’s all in your head, or so they say.
Anyway — no, wait, scratch that — so when’s it hitting Xbox Game Pass Standard? It’s anyone’s guess, but probably sometime in the first half of 2026. In July? We can look forward to Grounded 2 dropping, which might be, or not, everyone’s cup of tea. Yeah, who knows?
And there you have it, my rambling take on Wuchang: Fallen Feathers. Happy gaming or whatever!
