Alright, so I was sitting there, minding my own business, when I stumbled on this game, “Elden Ring Nightreign.” And, man, it’s like FromSoftware went all out and flipped the script. You know, they used to be all about throwing you into huge worlds and sometimes letting you call a buddy to help out or even let some random dude invade your game. But here? Nah, they’ve totally turned it on its head.
Picture this: you’re in a three-player co-op roguelike world. Sounds fancy, right? You’re picking classes, getting dropped onto this map that’s as random as my train of thought, and you have to grab loot and fight these Night Lord bosses. Somehow, it’s like FromSoftware decided, “Let’s just shake things up for the heck of it.” Honestly, I think it’s gonna influence how they do things in the future. At least, that’s what my gut’s telling me.
So, what’s this Nightreign thing like? Well, it’s basically about dashing around a haunted map filled with castles and mines — who missed high fantasy? — all while night starts falling, and you’re getting rained on by, wait for it, fiery rain. Why fiery rain? Beats me. But you gotta power up fast to take down the boss of the night and then the big baddie, the Night Lord, at the end of it all. Seems straightforward, but is it ever?
Speaking of bosses, that’s where things get wild. You gotta hit up as many boss fights as possible. Why? Because they leave behind the best goodies and loads of Runes. And while all those baddies and bosses are hanging around, you’re there, speedrunning through whatever insanity you can manage before the Night’s Tide creeps up on you. Feels like it turns the whole game into this mad boss rush. Kinda wonder what goes through the developers’ heads when they cook this stuff up.
Remember Sekiro? Just a little over a year after its launch, they tossed in something similar with these ‘Gauntlets of Strength.’ Don’t even get me started on how hard it was. And in Elden Ring Nightreign, we’re diving right into that boss-centric chaos again. That’s probably the future for FromSoftware if you ask me. Anyway — wait, where was I? Oh yeah. It’s like they found this sweet spot fitting epic boss fights into these games without it feeling, I dunno, forced? And, with any luck, this messy yet thrilling boss rush vibe sticks around.
What do you think? Is this the way forward? Or are we all just chasing fiery rain dreams here?
